AIMS
is an Airline Software Package marketed by AIMS Inc. under the acronym of: AIMS
Airline Information Management System and is a complete, fully developed, integrated and operationally proven Windows 2000/2003 Client Server-based Crew, Aircraft, Flight Management and Operations Control Computer System. It is designed to assist airline management more efficiently control and minimize costs related to crew, aircraft, flight support staff, administration, hotel, transport and communications. The efficient use of AIMS can help airlines improve efficiency and operational productivity while minimizing crew fatigue, promoting flight safety and enhancing crew morale

(The AIMS “CORE” and “ADD-ON” Modules)

The standard AIMS System consists of a group of individual core modules that can each function on a “stand-alone” basis or be fully integrated to provide a complete Crew Management, Operations Control and Commercial Planning System Solution.  Individually or collectively, the AIMS core modules offer the widest range of functionality, most efficient and mature integration of any comparable system on the market.  AIMS can be vertically integrated into an existing or planned (IT) corporate organization environment providing a highly efficient and exceptionally fast simultaneous multi-User/departmental access capability using unlimited numbers of workstations.  In addition to meeting the specialist requirements of Flight Operations and Cabin Crew Services Departments, AIMS can also support the data input requirements of a wide range of other specialist systems and programs used in supporting sections and departments within a typical airline corporate organization.  This enables airlines to maximize the corporate utilization of their investment in AIMS and thus fully justify system acquisition (especially for new “start-up” or small airline operations

AIMS consists of standard "core" modules that make up a complete system as follows:

  • Crew Management System
Planning (including Manpower), Pairing, Tracking, Check-in, Records, Reports and Statistics.
  • Operations Control
    I
ncluding Aircraft Scheduling, Maintenance Planning, Assignment and Flight Watch/Operations Control.
  • Commercial Planning System
Including Flight Schedule Generator, Multiple "what if" scenarios and comparisons, comprehensive reports, IATA SSIM & ASM upload/download.

A comprehensive range of optional "Add-on" modules is also available.

  • Optional Add-on Modules

The standard AIMS "Core" modules can easily be expanded by adding the more task-specific functionality provided by the optional “Add-on modules.” These fully integrable additions afford the opportunity to build a variety of corporate/departmental AIMS structures to suit any airline requirements.

CREW MANAGEMENT

Crew Planning (incl Basic Leave Administration & Manpower Planning) Affords the ability to quickly determine the minimum legal flight deck/cabin crew requirements for any given annual/seasonal commercial schedules plan with due consideration given to national, company regulations and union agreements, management administrative office coverage requirements, introductory and recurrent training, vacation, days off and crew preferences. Crew resource requirements can be presented by base, fleet or by individual crew rank/function category.  The User is therefore able to rapidly respond to unlimited commercial and operational “what if” planning scenario requirements.

Crew Pairing Gives the planner optimum flexibility to construct highly efficient crew duty blocks resulting in improved crew utilization based on all national and company legal requirements.  This can create corresponding reductions in manpower, air and surface transport, hotel and other related costs.

Crew Assignment Automatic generation of what are arguably the most efficient, fair and equitable individual crew rosters of any system on the market.  These can be based on any international, national, company regulations, union agreements or variations thereof.  Uses either the “Fair Assignment,” “Preferential Bidding” or “North American Bid-line” methods of crew scheduling.

Ability to cover a wide range of company administrative, training and operational requirements, as well as individual crew requests and preferences.  Generates air/surface transport and hotel reservation requirements.  Highly flexible in operation which enables authorized Users to easily change overall parameters to cover official “soft rules,” regulatory, company and union agreement changes, as well as any other related variations as they occur.

Crew Tracking (incl Basic Crew Training Records & Hotac / Travel) Fully integrated with the AIMS Operations Control System, it affords complete overall day-to-day administrative and operational control of the total crew resources throughout an airline’s route network. Quickly identifies additional crew resources to meet unforeseen situations. Availability, priority of presentation and any restrictions are listed in accordance with User-defined rules. Automatically identifies illegal or unqualified crews in accordance with pre-defined User airline regulations. Automatically generates crew schedule amendment logs to facilitate crew notification.

Crew Check-in Facilitates more efficient administrative and operational control of crew checking-in at each crew base.  Availability of Automated Check-in for crew by using a magnetic ‘swipe card,’ via  “touch screen” monitors, through the Interactive Voice Response System  (IVR) or using Crew Access via the web.

Crew Records Maintains a comprehensive User-defined database for crew administration, medical, training records and flight/duty time accumulators. Fully automated expiry date checks and generation of expiry warning reports.

OPERATIONS CONTROL / FLIGHT WATCH AND AIRCRAFT SCHEDULING

Aircraft Maintenance Schedule Planning A fully integrated sub-system of Operations Control that facilitates the construction of highly efficient single or multi-fleet aircraft maintenance plans based on any given annual or seasonal schedules plan conforming with national and company regulations. Can incorporate commercial, operational and technical restrictions imposed on fleets or individual aircraft by registration letters or tail numbers.  Rapid generation of unlimited “what if” planning scenarios to achieve optimum aircraft utilization and minimize costs. Automatically updates individual aircraft hours, cycles, checks and other technical restrictions facilitating daily aircraft assignment by registration letters or tail numbers to the flying program.

Automatic Aircraft Schedule Construction
Provides coverage of all flight sectors of the schedule according to aircraft type requirements.  Fully incorporates all planned aircraft maintenance events and User-defined planning limitations. Automatically allocates aircraft registration letters or tail numbers. Ability to link specific aircraft routes and has aircraft routes follow specific crew routes.

Aircraft Movement Control Maximizes on-time performance through the optimization of aircraft utilization. Automatic re-allocation and optimization of individual aircraft in conformity with/and the updating of maintenance plans. Uses “real time” interactive User-defined color graphics. Has scrollable displays from six hours to one month for actual or projected operations.  Automatic update and problem resolution following User-updated or, optionally, by receipt of longer period SITA aircraft movement messages via SITATEX. Automatically displays impending/actual aircraft restrictions and crew duty violations following input of schedule variations or receipt of delay messages.  Facilitates rapid re-scheduling of aircraft and crews to resolve delays or minimize their accumulative effect and cost on the overall operation. Over-ride facilities permit User to evaluate alternative problem solutions. (System will warn User of conflicting or illegal aircraft/crew selections in manual mode, but authorized User can still over-ride if required).

Post-flight Documentation and Statistics Based on data extraction from post-flight documentation including Journey Log/Voyage Report, which has been automatically updated and reconciled with earlier information derived from IATA format aircraft movement messages via SITATEX. Provides statistics relating to on-time performance, passengers, cargo, fuel (including fuel burn-off by individual Captains) and comparisons between the planned and actually operated flight schedule.

COMMERCIAL PLANNING AND FLIGHT SCHEDULING

Commercial Planning – Provides the Commercial / Schedules Planning Departments with the facility to compile more efficient and profitable flight schedules with optimum aircraft utilization.  Interfaces with the Operations Control (Maintenance Planning) and Crew Management modules of AIMS to ensure that flight schedules under construction are achievable based on the availability of required aircraft and qualified crew members.  Permits comparative evaluation of single and multiple flight schedule scenarios including those of competitor airlines.  An “Add-on” module is available for detailed flight cost analysis and anticipated revenue calculations for profit & loss and break-even load factor.  The core module also offers automated upload/download of IATA ASM / SSM messages and SSIM format files and statistics on estimated revenue, Costs and Profit for each schedule.  An “Add-on” module for full slot co-ordination resource (SCR) management is also available.
